IC INFORMATION
Character Name: Mary
Species: living painting
Canon: Ib
Canon Point: Post-Game (Promise of Reunion)
Character Age: Mary is physically, and for the most parts mentally, 9 years old. She was not born, but created in a specific image, and as such has always been the exact same age. She can have displays of maturity indicative of someone who has lived longer than her apparent years, but likewise those of a young child--because she has lived her life trapped in a dark and twisted world known as The Gallery. The rules there are violet and arbitrary, and in her bizarre, sheltered life, she is prone to fits of madness when things get stressful or don't go her way. After all, she isn't a real little girl, only an imitation of one. A dark fantasy setting is effectively where she's always been, so it would be a happy transition for her!
CRAU: No
CRAU Explanation: N/A
Character Appearance: here
Powers and Abilities: Other than being a painting, Mary has no special abilities. Within The Gallery, she could manipulate the space to a certain extent, creating landscapes by drawing, but she wouldn't be able to do this outside of that specific setting. I also assume she will be in the body of a normal child now instead of being made of paper and filled with paint instead of blood. She's squishy now!
What Did Your Character Wish For? To be a real girl.
What Potion Did They Receive? cerulean
Did They Drink It? yes

Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most?

The one and only friend Mary has ever made: a girl named Ib, who stumbled into The Gallery. She misses her terribly, wants to see her again to set things right...even if that might involve violence. It's a complicated relationship, considering that Ib is the reason she died, but Mary did want to be with her and still does. When she clings onto someone, she clings hard, and she truly believed the two of them could escape The Gallery together and become a happy family.

2. What are they most afraid of?

Mary is afraid of death. She already died once, and it was terrible--she doesn't want to ever have to experience it again. Doesn't want to find herself trapped in infinite darkness, or whatever kind of Hell she imagines it is that waits beyond death.

3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically?

In all respects, Mary suffers from the same constraints that any other little girl would have. She's physically unable to defend herself from most threats, and gets tired relatively easily. Emotionally, she's bound to her whims, her flights of fancy. Mentally, however, things get more complicated. She has a tentative grasp on "humanity", being that she isn't human and only appears to be one. She's prone to fits of rage, of madness, of animalistic impulse, that don't always make logical sense and are often violent in nature. She can be calmed from these rather easily, but egged on just as easily into a worse state.

4. What would make them happiest?

To be a real human girl with a real human family and real human friends is all she wants in her life. In Somnius, she won't be picky about the "human" requirement--in fact, she'll feel drawn to those who appear less human, safer and less judged with them. She's always fantasized about living a life in the sunshine, where she can grow up and have loving parents to dote on her, siblings to play with in a way that her fabricated "siblings" couldn't fulfil. If she could find a family for herself, especially one that accepts her for what she is, she'll be happiest of all.

5. What do you want out of your character in this setting?

I wand Mary to find a life for herself that she never could have otherwise had. This is her second chance, and it's a place where she can find individuals who will empathize with her and be patient in a way that Ib and Garry couldn't be in canon, due to the peril they were in. I want her to learn and grow from her past mistakes and skewed understanding of life, and I want her to get into plenty of trouble backsliding with her inhuman nature and lack of human understanding.
