Week 0, Post-Execution: (Izaya)

[Mary knows more or less what Izaya's about(tm) at this point, but she's still concerned with the way that execution played out. Not the things he said, but that hand, oof. It's possible that with that injury he'll be preoccupied right away but she'll hurry to find him alone as soon as she can, her pace earnest as she approaches him.]

[If Chuchu is with him she's definitely gonna be a little distracted, but...focus Mary, focus.]

[He managed to throw off Chuchu, which is a relief, because that monkey is a NARC]

Mary, Mary!

[It's a happy sing-song reply. His hands are in his pockets, but his arms are curved tucking into them, of course, which he considers ideal for young eccentric girls to hook onto if they so wish. He may even lean a little towards her to offer it.]

[She definitely takes him up on that because how can she not? Latching fully onto one of his arms she leans back on her heels.]

Is your hand okay? That looked like it really-super hurt!

[This is completely in line with the kind of playing around Mairu and Kururi would get up to, and he comfortably goes along with it.]


It got broken, but Chuuya Nakahara used his Psych to fix it. It's all better now.

[She hasn't spoken to Chuuya yet but she's seen his add in Starbucks. She definitely considered defacing it, but then...forgot. Haha.]

That was really amazing, you know? You were so angry, I was going "wow!" in my head the whole time!

Thanks, thanks! [Mary gets head pats!] It was pretty inspiring, right? For a little broken hand, it was definitely worth committing to the part. Although some people will still suspect me, it should do a lot for me with a certain kind of Player.

People suspect you already? How come?

[He seems...so trustworthy to her! But she's pretty biased, and unassuming, all things considered.]

If you want, I can tell them all how nice you are! They'd have to believe me!

That's because I have a personality that people often don't like to trust. In other words, you could say that my mercurial attitude is one they're not comfortable trusting in.

[He smiles at her.]

That's really nice of you, Mary, but probably, a lot of people would just think I've been manipulating you to my own ends. I won't say that all of them would, but definitely, people can be suspicious like that.

Hmmmm...I guess that's fair!

I just don't want anybody to turn on you. How can we stay together as long as possible if they do? I don't want to not be able to do anything about it!

What about telling people you like me and would be sad if I died? For most of them, I bet they'd want to protect your happiness as much as they could.

Oh! That's a great idea! If anyone turns on you, I'll cry really hard!

[Nobody wants to deal with her crying!]

There's no way anyone would want to see you cry, Mary.

Rather, there are probably some who would find that appealing, since humans are pretty varied in their tastes. However, it isn't like I've noticed anyone here to be that type. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like a great strategy to me.

Really? How funny!

[She hasn't learned enough about humans to see any real examples of sadism, but there's always time to learn.]

You know so much about people--how did you get so good at figuring them out?

Watching humans was my hobby from a really fun age. It's fun, don't you think? Looking at human beings and trying to understand them?

[withsadness]

Uh-huh! I'm still learning, and I don't always know why they do the things they do.

[Anthy...Anthy really confused her. She just couldn't understand giving up like that, but maybe there's something interesting about it that she's not seeing? Izaya has such a good perspective on things!]

But I think the mystery is a bit exciting, too? Being unpredictable is just part of being alive, isn't it?

That's right, that's right! They're always doing different things! They're doing things you can't know about and things you can't expect or predict! Humans are always always always changing or staying the same, and they are all colliding and interacting in ways that even we as Reapers can't know about! I would say, even Composers can't be absolutely certain about humans. That's why I can always love humanity, and never ever stop.

[this is it. this is the True Form 'Humanity Is The Best' speech. Mary gets it because she also likes staring at people and them being surprising.]

[Those sure are some words, Izaya. But hell, she thinks they're pretty words. She feels much more normal, all of a sudden!]

That's what makes being a Reaper so amazing! There are sooooo many people all together that you'd never meet otherwise, and they all want so badly to go back home again that they'll do anything! Anything at all! Even things they'd never think themselves capable of! And we're already seeing it here, huh? Even just earlier today! I think being here is the best place to be, and I wanna do it forever and ever aaaand ever!
