[Newt is sitting on top of the mess hall, kicking his legs off the edge of the roof as he and Mary wait for the Players scattered below to wake up. It'll be a little while, yet. The Game isn't quite ready to start.
And it's up to Mary to give the go-ahead, anyway. This is cool.
He leans back, propping himself up with his hands and idly flapping his Reaper wings. They're been in constant motion since he got them because oh my god he has wings this is amazing and he's pretty sure he will never get over that.]
[Mary's drawing something that almost looks like...team formations as she kicks her legs over the edge of the roof alongside Newt's. She's also thinking about pancakes, so she's a little distracted.]
Do you think that the players are going to like me?
[She leans back, frowning as she stares up at Newt.]
If I dress up like the other players in a camp uniform that'll be enough, won't it? I'll just pretend to be really bad at the game, and then ah, oh no, I've been eliminated! And then I can watch from my cabin...
Uh... Maybe? [He's not sure. So much of this new Games setup is still unknown to him. It helps that Mary's in charge and that all of them did plenty of hashing out before they got the ball rolling, but still. Execution usually goes a bit differently than the planning stages of anything. Who knows what these new Players are going to be like?]
If you hang back, you won't be lonely. I'll still be around to hang out with you. Hermann and Alex, too.
[From where she's walking underneath the tree, she beams up at him. She's holding some kind of box, but although it's large it doesn't look too heavy. She sets it down as she addresses him, though, and pulls out what looks like...some kind of clip-on flag. She tosses it up to him. Or attempts to, since he's pretty high and she's pretty short.]
I decided on a different kind of game! Capture the Reaper Flag! Because if the Players tried to hurt any of you for real, I'd get really upset.
[ Like a monkey, he hangs from the branch with his legs and catches the flag as soon as it reaches him. ]
Hohhh. Good thinking, Mary! You might wanna turn down the murderous intent when the show gets started, though. But I guess you were pretty good at it the last time...
Anyway, don't worry about me! I'm really good at not getting caught, among other things.
[Mary stares up at him for a moment as the flag she was waving falls distractedly from her grasp. With very little warning she makes a leap for his hands.]
[ He laughs along with her. Moments like these make memories of their last Game together seem so far away. ]
Ah, well... I dunno if we have the same idea of fun. [ He is NSFW, Mary. A leg swings from the branch as he ponders on this... ] Oh! We can make everyone play beer pong. It's something I heard about during my time at Chaldea. It's really popular with the college kids!

You nervous or anything?

'Course they will, kiddo. It's impossible not to like you. [...] You might want to, uh, lay low for the first bit, though. Just in case.
[He doesn't want her getting hurt in case any of the Players decide to lash out.]

[And all the other Reapers, but he's biased.]

Yo, Mary! No killing this time?

[Mary just laughs and picks up a second flag from the box to wave it around.]
We're all going to have so much fun, I just know it! I wonder how many flags the players will get? None from you, I bet!

I dunno, I'm kinda hoping for a challenge. Buuuuut being an undefeated champion sounds pretty sweet. It's my thing.
[ And he's still hanging upside down. ]

Hmmm...!

Pull me up!

[ He catches her and swings her up a branch with ease, much like a circus performer would. Be careful, Mary!
Then, he sits back up. ]
Was that fun?
no subject
Yes! I felt like I was flying, it was the best! You're so cool and strong, Shinshin!
[Calling him by that nickname is just force of habit, now. It'll take her awhile to switch to Yan Qing.]
Do you have any other fun ideas? Not just for right now...but for always! I want everybody to have fun, especially you!

[ It's pretty late when Eleanor finds her, wherever she just so happens to be. She frowns, vaguely disapproving and mostly concerned. ]
You should have been in bed half an hour ago. Even composers need to get to sleep in a timely manner.
[ Listen, Mary may be her boss, but she'll never be able to stop Eleanor from nagging her. ]

I can't go to sleep without a bedtime story!
